5K number 11... CONQUERED!

Image
Hey y'all!  To say Saturday was awesome would be an understatement! No I didn't get a personal best time or anything like that.... But I was able to meet so many AMAZING and supportive people throughout the morning and that is a huge win in my book!  So let me start from the beginning! It started out as a normal 5K morning. I got up, got around, drank some coffee and headed off to Hernando. When I arrived at the race site I went over and checked in and then hurried back to my car to get the rest of the way ready... It was almost GO TIME!!   After I was all ready I headed back to the start line... Where I was able to meet and chat with the AMAZING Miss Robin! The 5K is in honor of her son Noah and y'all I was so incredibly honored that I got to chat with her! As I was walking to the start line I encountered another gentleman(Mr Keith). He and I talked about my 5K journey and he told me how amazing it was that I was willing to do this! Definitely good motivation bef...

And then there were TEN!!

Hey y'all!!  Yesterday was such a HUGE morning of walking!! My body decided to wake me up SUPER early! Which was both good and bad... Good because it meant I was able to stretch out more and ice my knee... Bad in that it gave my anxiety more time to ramp up! I decided since I was up early I would go ahead and head to the race site and get checked in. So all summer long I have said my theme song for the year is "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten.. Y'all I kid you not that song came on not even two minutes into my drive! God works in mysterious ways is all I gotta say about that one! He knows what we need and when we need it! I arrived at the Memphis Botanic Gardens where the 5K was taking place, parked and went to check in!  After I checked in I went back to my car to just chill and TRY to relax... Who am I kidding relaxing was not happenin! My nerves were in OVERDRIVE so I decided to just get out of the car and go walk around a little bit to see if that would help... As I...

2,000 miles CONQUERED!

My journey to learning how to walk wasn't like the average person. In fact before I was born doctors told my parents that I wouldn't be able to walk AT ALL! And IF I did I would most definitely need the assistance of a walker. Well for the first 4yrs of my life it seemed like they may be right. The only type of walking I did was with the assistance of a walker... Then some thing clicked inside and I said I was going to be like the normal kids who didn't use a walker... And y'all I have never looked back! In November of 2016 I set out on what would prove to be one of the biggest and most rewarding walking journeys I have ever been on! When I started this journey my intent was just to walk 1-2 days a week. Nothing big, just get to know the neighbors in the neighborhood I had just moved into and maybe get me in a little better shape than I was in at the time.... Little did I know at the time but I was about to CONQUER things no one EVER thought I would! I still remember th...

Only 15.10 miles from 2,000!

Hey y'all!  OMG y'all this last week of walking has been AMAZING! My knee is FINALLY starting to feel back to normal and I'm slowly starting to see the mile times I was seeing before this whole tendinitis issues began back in June! After getting in over three miles for the day on Thursday I decided to take it somewhat "easy" with my walkin on Friday... And still managed to get in 2.75 miles for the day... Which put me at 17.03 miles for the week!!! Y'all that is the highest amount of miles I have had since the beginning of June!! I was hitting between 17-18 miles almost every week last year with no problem but this year it hasn't been as easy! So to see that number again makes me one happy girl!!  But the thing that made me the most happy.... The fact that with thanks to that 17.03 miles I am now only 15.10 miles from hitting one of my biggest goals of the year... Hitting 2,000 miles walked since November of 2016!!! I've had some people say "Why i...

15 miles for the week!!

Hey y’all!!  So if you read last weeks blog you know that a BIG goal of mine this week was to get back to 3.10 miles.... And on Monday morning I CRUSHED that goal!! I ended up having to get in done on the treadmill but that ended up being a GREAT thing!! Last time when I did 3.10 miles on the treadmill it took me 74(1hr 14min)... This time I was able to finish in 66 MINUTES(1hr 6mins!)!!! When I first started I thought oh man I am going to have to stop WAY more times than I normally do.... But that was not the case AT ALL! I only stopped twice!! And the best part was my knee felt GREAT!!! It was definitely the best walkin day I have had in a LONG time!!  The last couple weeks I have been taking Saturday off.. But this week has been SUPER crazy so a walk was needed this morning to reach my 15 mile goal!! It was a little bit slower than I was hoping for but for a Saturday I will totally take it!! AND thanks to that walk I will end the week with exactly 15 miles!!  So here w...

47.10 miles from 2,000 miles!!

Hey y'all!  OMG this is been one AWESOME week of walking! I started off the week a little slow... But Tuesday it started to amp up! I hit just OVER two miles (2.08 miles to be exact😉) for the first time in a month! Oh but that's not even the biggest thing! On Thursday I pushed the ole knee even harder and was able to get back over two and a half  miles!! 2.55 miles to be exact😉!  It was not easy and I did stop a few more times then I usually do... But I finished and my knee felt GREAT when I was done!! Not gonna lie I was so excited after that walk I cried a little!  Even bigger than that is the fact that I was able to get in 14.79 miles!! Now yes it's not the 17-18 miles that I am use to but it the highest amount I have had in 4 weeks! So that made it a BIG win!!  The biggest thing to come out of this week of walking is the fact that as of today I am only 47.10 miles from hitting 2,000 miles walked since November of 2016!! When I first started having all the ...

Finally getting back to normal walkin!!

Hey y'all! To say tendinitis recovery has not been easy the last couple of weeks would be an understatement.... It's been down right ROUGH! The first week back was filled with tears and frustration at the fact that my knee was still sore and I couldn't push myself as hard as I wanted! Don't get me wrong I was thrilled to be back walking... But anyone that knows me knows I'm a go big or go home kind of girl! So having to SLOWLY get back to walking has been hard for me! Even thru all the tears and frustration I still managed to hit 11.40 miles!!  This week has been MUCH better! Thanks to the crazy Mississippi summer heat causing heat advisories almost all week it was treadmill walkin week! Y'all my knee seems to be FINALLY starting to get back to normal! On Tuesday I was able to hit 2 miles for the first time since June 13th!! And then on Thursday I backed it up with a SECOND 2 miler!! The first 2 miler wasn't the best feeling 2 miler but I made it thru! Thank...
