And then there were TEN!!
Hey y'all!!

I am extremely sore and tired today... But I am PROUD! Proud of being able to say that I have now CONQUERED TEN 5K's since August of 2017!!! And it just under 3 weeks I will CONQUER number 11!!! Bring it on!

Yesterday was such a HUGE morning of walking!! My body decided to wake me up SUPER early! Which was both good and bad... Good because it meant I was able to stretch out more and ice my knee... Bad in that it gave my anxiety more time to ramp up! I decided since I was up early I would go ahead and head to the race site and get checked in. So all summer long I have said my theme song for the year is "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten.. Y'all I kid you not that song came on not even two minutes into my drive! God works in mysterious ways is all I gotta say about that one! He knows what we need and when we need it! I arrived at the Memphis Botanic Gardens where the 5K was taking place, parked and went to check in!
After I checked in I went back to my car to just chill and TRY to relax... Who am I kidding relaxing was not happenin! My nerves were in OVERDRIVE so I decided to just get out of the car and go walk around a little bit to see if that would help... As I was standing around the director of the race came up to me and told me she had heard my story and was so excited that I was there. She asked the official race photographer to take a pic of her and I and get a few pics of my outfit... It was definitely a new experience for me! I have never had a race director ask to take pics with me🙈! I'm not gonna lie that experience gave me a little boost and confidence! At 8am it was GO TIME!!! The race started out GREAT! I was able to keep a GREAT pace and hit the 1 mile for at just over 20 minutes!! Then the hilly part of the course came... And my knee started to hate on me! There were definitely a few times that last mile and a half that I questioned if I was gonna be able to finish... But all I kept thinking was "Its ok to slow down... But it's not ok to quit!"! So I slowed my pace down a little and pushed on thru! It wasn't easy and I had a tearful moment around the 2.50 miles mark... But I finished! Y'all when I rounded the corner and saw the finish line it hit me like a ton of bricks what I had just accomplished! As I crossed the finish line all I could think of was "Thank you God! I DID IT!"! I CONQUERED my TENTH 5K!! I showed all the doctors that said I would NEVER walk that they were WRONG! I proved that Spina Bifida will NOT define me... Only God and I can do that! I proved that I am more than just the girl with Spina Bifida... I AM SPINA BIFIDA STRONG!!
I am extremely sore and tired today... But I am PROUD! Proud of being able to say that I have now CONQUERED TEN 5K's since August of 2017!!! And it just under 3 weeks I will CONQUER number 11!!! Bring it on!
