Adjusting to the new handicap adaptions on my car!
Hey y’all!

Once we got them installed we realized they were definitely different from the old set. For starters the old set I had to push in to brake and pull down to GO. With new set I am still pushing back to break but have to pull the bar toward me to GO! Which to some may not seem like a big change.. But let me tell you, it is ALOT harder than you think! Definitely going to gain some muscles driving with these adaptions😉 The next thing I had to get use to was the fact since these are not permanent and are made to fit any car..... The top can tend to wobble around a little when I first start driving... Which COMPLETELY freaked me out the first time I drove with them y’all! I almost said “These things are not on here right!”... But after watching a few YouTube videos I figured out it’s just apart of driving with these adaptions! By the way for anyone wondering, the wobbling in no way effects how they work and they aren’t going to fall off(My dad and mom have both had to tell me this SEVERAL times... But it is definitely an adjustment I had to get use too! I have now driven with them several times on the highway and I will say the wobbling has gotten better and I am getting more comfortable with the differences every time I drive! I’m definitely not ready to drive back to Mississippi by myself yet.. but thankfully I have a few more weeks to get use to driving with them before I make that trip back home! By then I will feel like a pro driver with a need for speed again 😉
So I recently got a new car y’all! BUT before I could even think about driving it, my parents and I had to find a set of brand new handicap hand controls for it! The set I had on my old car was put on there probably 10 yrs ago and let’s just say in the past ten years handicap adaptions have definitely evolved! Y’all there were SO many different kinds to choose from! We read the reviews and researched SEVERAL different brands and style and we ultimately chose the ones that were the closest to my old adaptions. Unlike the old adaptions which were permanently on the car and cost an arm and a leg(around $1300 for the adaptions not including the install)and have to be professionally installed... The new ones were UNDER $300, could be installed by my dad AND the best part is they can be moved from car to car if I need them to! Once we ordered them I waited for what seemed like FOREVER for them to get here! Ok, ok it was actually only about 4 days but who’s counting😉 When they did FINALLY get here though there was another problem... My dad was out of town and wouldn’t be able to install them for another 3-4 days! Which again felt like FOREVER! Thankfully he FINALLY arrived home and installed them the next day... Then the real fun began!
