My first extended hospital stay... by myself!
Hey Y'all!
As far back as I can remember every time I have had to stay overnight or for an extended period of time in the hospital my momma (Or both parent) has been with me! So I moved to the south around 8 years ago and for the first 4-5 yrs I had NO hospital visits... not even to the ER! I was living the dream for a Spina Bifida patient! Well that AMAZING steak came to a crashing halt in January 2015! It was a Saturday. I had been throwing up all night and didn't see it stopping any time soon. My regular doctor wouldn't be in till Monday so I made the hard decision to go to the ER. Well in my mind I was thinking "Ok you probably have a bladder infection(I get them ALL the time!) and are definitely dehydrated.. They will just prescribe some meds, give you fluids and send you home!".... Well I was totally right about the bladder infection.... But it was the worst one I had had in years! To top it off my blood pressure was THRU THE ROOF! After doing blood work and several other tests AND consulting with Urology it was decided that I would be admitted for what was SUPPOSE to be 48hrs of I.V meds, a foley cathedor (Those SUCK) and observation and I could go home.... Well that 48hrs turned into TWO WEEKS y'all! This was definitely one of the most STUBBORN bladder infections I have ever dealt with! Every single time we would think it was finally going away.... BOOM it came roaring back! I am SO incredibly thankful for my Mississippi Fam💕 cause without y'all I would have NEVER made it thru! They brought me food, magazines and would just stay and entertain me so I didn't go crazy! Well we finally got the bladder infection under control(Two weeks later) and I was able to go home!! It was EXTREMELY rough not having my parents or anyone from my family down here. But I am so proud of myself for making it thru that experience and not having a MAJOR meltdown! Guess you could say that was the moment I finally realized "Ok yes you can totally handle living on your own!"
❤️Hugs💙
