"Walking must be easy now"
"Walking must be easy now that you do it so much!"... Y'all when this comment was made to me the other day I nearly choked on my coffee! No walking is NOT easier for me now that I do it every day! It will NEVER be "Easy"! I have to work hard every walk to not fall on my butt (Which has happened SEVERAL times!). I have to work to keep my balance and making sure I am walking straight so I don't look like a drunk person. I have to work to keep myself from crying some days cause my legs feel like they have 100lbs weights! There are days I have to stop 2-3 times a walk just because my body gets tired faster then most people! Hills feel like mountains most days! Yes I have days where walking isn't quite as hard as others... but trust me it's NEVER easy! Some of you are probably thinking "Well then why keep doing it?!"... I'll tell you why! Because I want to be able to chase my future child and grandchildren around. Because I don't want my muscles to start to stiffen before I am 40! Because I don't want to be wheel chair bound by 50! I do it because staying active is the BEST thing for a person with Spina Bifida! I also do it because although I struggle while doing it I always feel great after. I feel like I have accomplished the impossible... even if I just walked a mile! I also do it to show all those people that said I would never walk on my own they were wrong! So no walking is not easy for me... But that doesn't mean I am giving it up anytime soon! #WalkinwithKelley #Notgivingup #SpinaBifidaSTRONG
