Learning to walk on my own
Hey Y'all! I get asked ALOT "When did you actually start walking on your own?"... Well my first challenge was actually being able to stand! I had a little thing called a parapodium that helped me to stand on my own because I just couldn't do it by myself! Only problem with this little contraption was that if I got too excited or moved around too much it would tip over with me in it!

So my AMAZING Grandpa Ray made me this AWESOME table that my momma could put me in my parapodium in the center of the table and she didn't have to worry about me tipping over! Although I have been told my older sisters would at times move my toys to the opposite end of the table where I could not reach them... Big sisters... Gotta love them!
Now starting to actually walk with a walker happened at around 2 1/2! I will admit... I absolutely HATED that thing most of the time! It was so hard to maneuver around! It would get stuck on every little bump and don't get me started on how difficult it was to use in the grass or on the carpet! Maybe that's why I was so determined to ditch it when I was only 4! I also just wanted to be somewhat normal like the other kids my age!
Now at 32 I am walking 20-22 miles a week unassisted(Well except for the leg braces!) and about to conquer my 1st 5K walk! It's so crazy(and somewhat emotional!) for me to look at these pics and think about how far I have come the last 32yrs! Just proves that you should NEVER give up on yourself! #SpinaBifidaSTRONG
