Yes I am 4ft10... NO I'm not a midget😡

Hey Y'all!

So I can't even explain how much I HATE the word midget... I don't find it funny at all! I think it's rude, demeaning and just plain MEAN! There are some people that can't help that they are short! I have been asked several times if I was considered a "midget"... The CORRECT way to ask that would be to say little person or ask if I had a form of dwarfism... To answer that question NO I am not considered a little person. I am just plain short! But I do believe that EVERY person tall or short should be treated with respect... You don't go around asking someone tall if they are considered a giant... so why ask a short person if they are considered a little person?! Those people with that disability just want to be treated like a normal person! In fact people should realize they have to work ten times harder at stuff because of their disability! Adapting to a world that is set for an average 5'3 person is not easy when your 4'10 or under! Doing normal every day things can feel like a workout. Let's take grocery shopping for example... I have had to try to climb a shelf a few times just to reach something! Now your asking "Well why not ask someone for help?"... Do you know how embarrassing it can be to have to ask a random stranger to reach something cause you can't?! All that goes thru my mind is "Are they going to laugh?" "Will they make fun of me when I walk away?". I have actually passed up things in the past just because it was too high up and I was to embarrassed to ask! Cooking also turns into a workout at times! Especially when you have to climb the counters to reach something... Which is also dangerous by the way! And don't get me started on laundry... Let's just say I have almost went head first into the washer more times then I can count🙈🙈 Also making a queen size bed becomes a battle every time! So the next time a short person asks you for help do it with a smile cause you never know how much courage that took to ask!
