I conquered my FIFTH 5K y'all!!

Hey y'all!  Yesterday was an EARLY but AMAZING day!! I was up before the sun preparing for my FIFTH 5K!! The drive to Hernando felt like the longest drive EVER! Not sure if it was the fact that it was so early or the fact the my anxiety was in OVERDRIVE.. Probably that last one😉 I made it to the spot of the 5k, parked my car and headed to the start line to wait for my good friend Jessi (Who happens to be one of the original members of team #WalkinwithKelley from the first 5K!). Thankfully she arrived just before the race and she even brought an ADORABLE redhead to tag along with us!  Y'all this one was definitely one of the roughest 5K's to date! There were Ssssoooo many hills! And we all know how much I "LOVE" hills! I am so incredibly thankful Jessi and little red were with me cause I don't think I would have ever made it thru this one on my own! Around the mile and a half mark the stiffness and tiredness REALLY hit me! But thankfully I was able to keep tal...

Hey y'all!! 5K week is upon us y'all!! We are just FIVE days away from me walking in my FIFTH 5K! Saturday can't get here soon enough! But before Saturday I had to get in my traditional mock 5K... Which I conquered yesterday!  It was definitely a chilly morning for this mock 5K. But judging by the forecast the actual 5K morning is going to be chilly as well! Y'all I was so incredibly surprised by how well I felt the whole walk! When I have done my 3 milers the past month or so the first mile to mile and a half have been somewhat of a struggle... But not this one! My body totally cooperated and I got the whole thing done in just over an hour!! It definitely gave me the boost I needed to be confident for Saturday!!  So today began my easy week of walking... Well as easy as walking gets for me😉 This morning it was even colder than yesterday.. But I bundled up and got it done! This week I am not walking to get the best time or with a set distance.. I'm just letting mys...

Hey y'all! So as of today we are exactly EIGHT days from my FIFTH 5K! That has me so pumped up y'all! I never even thought I would walk one 5K in my life... And now I'm about to walk in my fifth!!  Today I decided to end the week on a strong note. The weather here in Mississippi has been absolutely beautiful y'all! So this morning I got up, had my coffee and headed to the park. The first part of the walk was great... But that last part was definitely a STRUGGLE! My hips are sore and swollen from pushing them all week... But I pushed thru it and made it 2.35 miles!!  This afternoon was a one mile and I was done kind of night. My body is definitely TIRED! But I made it happen!  So I will end this week with 17.29 miles for the week!! Now I normally do my "Mock 5K" exactly one week before the 5K... But there is rain in the forecast tomorrow and even more importantly I am heading to meet my two favorite people for lunch tomorrow! So the "Mock 5K" will hav...

Halfway thru the week!!

Hey y'all!  Today was a a pretty fall day for walkin! This morning my goal was to hit 2 miles... Unfortunately I piddled around the house this morning which made it so my walk was rushed because of having to get to work! I did however get in an AWESOME 1.51 miles!! Awesome in the fact that I hit my first mile in 18:38 AND I finished the whole thing in UNDER 30!! Not to mention I felt GREAT while walking!! As I was walking back to my car  I had a gentleman stop me and he said “I have seen you walking around here a few times and I just wanted to stop you and tell you that I think what you are doing is amazing! The fact that your getting out and showing people that a disability will not stop you is so incredibly inspiring! God is definitely working thru you young lady!”! Y’all this sweet gentleman completely made my day!! To be honest I was mad at myself that I hadn’t been able to get in the 2 miles I had planned and after talking with this gentleman I realized.. Hey y'all!  It's been an easy but impressive start to the walking week! Yesterday I started the day with an easy 1.01 miles! This weekend was somewhat rough as I dealt with muscle spasms in my thighs that would come and go but didn't seem to want to just go away! I have dealt with this issue several times in the past but this time seemed to be a little more annoying than normal... But I still managed to make walking happen! Sunday evening I decided to take my walking inside and got in another 1.02 miles... And it actually felt GREAT! Well as great as treadmill walking can feel for me😉 Today my legs were feeling 100x better so I decided to step it up for this mornings walk... And I ended the walk with 1.51 miles!! I did end up getting rained on the last half of my walk... I mean Luke Bryan says "Rain is a good thing" right?! Well sorry to tell you Luke Bryan but rain is NOT a good thing when you are trying to get a walk in... But I made it!  Tonight I didn't w...

Hey y'all!  Today has been a HUGE struggle! Last night I was plagued with muscles spasms in my thighs and back that lasted almost half the night! I have had this issue in the past but it hasn't been this bad in quite I while! Even though I was completely exhausted this morning I still wanted to end the week on as strong a note as I could muster! This morning I was able to get in 1.34 miles... Which is a HUGE win today!!  Tonight I decided to suck it up and go for one last walk for the week... It was definitely a slower walk than I would have liked... But I got it done! I was able to get in another 1.01 miles!  So I will end the week with 16.57 miles... That is a number I am totally proud of! Now it is time to take some time to rest and relax my sore legs... But Sunday it's back to the grind! As of tomorrow we will be TWO weeks from #5KroundFIVE... And Sunday starts the final push to get this ole body ready for GO TIME!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley

Hey y'all!  It's definitely been a GREAT! Start to the walking week!! Yesterday I was able to get two goods walks in! One on the treadmill and the other was outside in this "wonderful" Mississippi heat! I walked a total of 2.01 miles yesterday!! Not bad for a Sunday!!  Today was even better!! This morning the weather wasn't too terribly hot... So I headed to the park to get in at least a mile and a half... And that's what I did! I must have been in the mood to torture myself cause I took on the hilliest side of the park! It was definitely a struggle but I conquered those hills y'all! I ended the walk with 1.51 miles!! Not bad for a Monday morning!  Tonight it was HOT and I wasn't feeling walking outside... So I took it inside to the treadmill!! I started out a little slow and tired but once I got going I was able to bump up the speed and got in 1.01 miles in under 24 minutes!!  So for today I will end the day with 2.52 miles for the day!! What a week this has been!!

Hey y'all!  So after being sick all last weekend this week has been an extremely EASY week! But what a week it has been! Monday I officially signed up for my FIFTH 5K!! But wait there's more!! On Tuesday I got a Facebook message from the Because I can website/Facebook that they were featuring my story that I had sent into them on their contact/share your story page!! Y'all I was SO excited when I read that!! But wait it gets better!  Thursday I received a message that I was featured on their FACEBOOK page... ME! AND then I discovered I was also on their Instagram!!! Y'all I literally about had a heart attack when I saw that! This is hands down the most AMAZING thing that has ever happened to me! I started this blog with the thinking "If I can just inspire one person, it will all be worth it!"... And with my story on the Because I can page I now have the potential to inspire WAY more!!
