Back above 20 miles!!!

Hey y’all!  This morning I woke up and looked at the weather and my first thought was... “Of course it’s BEAUTIFUL the weekend AFTER the 5K!”! This mornings walk ended up being 2.13 miles!!! I was only shooting for 1.60 but you know me I am a Go BIG and Go Home type of woman😉!  That put me at 20.59 miles for the week! It has definitely been somewhat of a rough walking week. Y’all like I said before I have been so shocked at how long it took my body to recover from the 2nd 5K! The first one I felt great the next day! But even with that I still managed to get back over 20 miles... and that makes me one happy girl!  This is a BIG week! Not only is it the kick off to Spina Bifida Awareness Month... But I am only SEVENTEEN miles from 600 miles walked since November! I mean y’all can you think of a better week for me to hit such a milestone!  Now it’s time to get back in some comfy clothes, take off my braces and watch some College Football(and Nascar)! My Rebels take on ...

First 3 miler since the 5K!!

Hey y’all!  This morning was another BEAUTIFUL fall morning! Perfect time to get in my first 3 miler since last Saturday!!! It was definitely a little rough toward the end and I didn’t do the usual 3.10 but I was happy I hit 3 miles!!!  Tonight was just as awesome as this morning....   Well minus the wind making my hair look all crazy😜😜! I felt GREAT and got in another 1.54 miles!!! I think this weather just needs to stick around forever!  So for the day I will end up with 4.54 miles.... That’s the most I have gotten all week!! Definitely starting to feel like myself again! Will I be back in the 20’s this week.... Stay tuned tomorrow to find out!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Walkin with Kelley: 3.72 miles!!

Hey y’all! Oh my lord today was the most PERFECT day for walking!! I hope this weather sticks around cause it makes my walks so much more enjoyable! This morning was only 70 degrees! I don’t think I had it that cool for a walk after 9am in a WHILE! I got in a AWESOME 2.12 miles!!! The time was a little slower then normal but I am not going to worry about that at all!  Tonight was just as awesome! Y’all the last couple weeks I have been sweatin buckets on my night walks... Not today!!! I had only planned on doing 1.50 miles... But ended up with 1.66!!!  So 3.78 miles total for the day!! Not over 4 but I am still thrilled with it! That leaves 23.70 miles till 600!!! Tomorrow I am going to attempt my first 3 miler since the 5K... Wish me luck! But for now... It’s dinner time!!! #WalkinwithKelley  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Back over 4 miles for the day!!

Hey y’all!  Today was the best walking day of the week so far! It was still hot but I felt the best I have felt since Saturday! This morning I got in 2.50 miles! It did start out a little rocky but got way better by the half mile point!  Tonight was another scorcher! (Thank the Lord tomorrow is suppose to be better!) I was definitely lookin a little rough after cleaning all day and basically just throwing my hair up... But I got in another 1.52 miles so I will take that as my win for the day!!  So that’s 4.02 miles for the day!! Halfway thru the week and I am at 10.13 miles!! I am now only 27.40 miles from 600!!! Time to put my PJ’s on and relax!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Walkin with Kelley: My 400th walk!!!

Hey y’all!  Today’s walks were SO much better then yesterday’s! It was still extremely hot but my body is slowly starting to recover from Saturday! This morning I did just over 2 miles! Last night my momma told me that I should just try to walk slow for a few days and not focus on time.... I really tried Momma I promise! But I somehow got my best 2 mile time I have had in a while! Tonight was even hotter then this morning! Thank the Lord it is suppose to cool down on Thursday! My body was fighting me just a little but not enough to bother me and I got in another 1.08 miles!! And again in a good time!  That’s 3.09 miles for the day!! So this morning I received an email from my walking app informing that I had just completed my 400TH walk since November! How absolutely CRAZY is that y’all! I use to be the girl that HATED walking any distance... Not anymore!!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

First day of walking since the 5K...ROUGH!

Hey y’all! So I’m not sure if it was the heat or maybe my body is still tired from all the hills Saturday... But today’s walks were ROUGH! This morning started out great! I felt energized and thought it was going to be a great walk... till about half a mile in when I started to slow way down... My legs felt like they had 50lbs weights attached to them! BUT I didn’t let myself cut the walk short and actually got in .02 miles more then I had planned by hitting 1.52 miles!! Tonight was rough from the beginning! I debated if I was even going to go as far as I did! Now somehow I was faster this time(Not by much but it still counts!) but it was not a pleasant walk AT ALL! But I didn’t cry and managed to get in the full 1.50 miles so I guess we will take that as a win!  So that’s 3.02 miles to start the week... I’ll take it! Now it’s time to take some Ibuprofen and get into bed and just relax the rest of the night! Night y’all!!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Less than 40 miles till 600

Hey y’all!  With all the excitement yesterday I took today as a rest day! As I was planning out my miles for the week I decided to look at my profile and see how far I am from hitting 600 miles... Well y’all I am only 37.60 miles from 600!!! I didn’t realize I was that close!!  Which means if I hit my goal number of miles the next 2 week I should be able to hit it by the end of next week!!! The coolest part about hitting it next week is it will be the start of Spina Bifida Awareness month!! I just can’t believe that since I started this walking journey in November of 2016 I have walked not just one but TWO 5K’s and now I am about to hit 600 miles!! It would be so cool to hit 700 by November 14th which is the anniversary of the very first walk I tracked with my app!! My goal is to get as close to 1000 as I can by my birthday (December 30th)! Well when I hit 600 I will be 400 miles away from it!! Crazy I know! If only all those doctors who told me I would never walk on my own co...

My SECOND 5K...ACCOMPLISHED!

Hey y’all!  It’s been a pretty big morning! This morning I participated in the St Jude Walk/Run to end childhood cancer. Y’all this was the biggest event I have ever seen! Let alone been a part of! I was so thankful my roommate went with me this morning and stayed while I checked in! Cause y’all seeing all those people had my nerves and anxiety in OVERDRIVE!  When it was go time they lined up the runners first and then those of us that were walking... I swear it felt like FOREVER before we got going! I went at this one alone and it was scorching hot and that made it a little bit rough for me! I will admit the first half mile or so there were tears and I kept thinking “I don’t know if I can finish this by myself!”! But the atmosphere during this 5K is something I have never seen! There were people lined up on the streets with Pom Poms and cowbells(Which is normally a no for me but I just tuned it out today😉)! That got me so pumped up and I started to walk with a lot more confi...

Almost time for 5K round 2!!

Hey y’all!  Tomorrow is the BIG day!! I will be walking in the St Jude 5K Walk/Run to end childhood cancer!!! This one will be a little different from last time as I am going at this one alone. Am I nervous? I’m a hot mess right now! But I just have to keep telling myself “You do this EVERY day by yourself!”. I also have to remember all the sweet little angels at St Jude and what this walk represents! This walk is for ALL the parents who have lost a little one far to soon to this awful disease! It’s for the parents who have children currently fighting for their life at St Jude and are hoping and praying for a cure! This 5K is so much more then just a 5K to me! It’s a chance to show those sweet babies that you can achieve ANYTHING with God and a whole lot of determination! Me even being able to walk this walk at all is living proof of that! So as nervous as I am, I CAN’T WAIT to get there tomorrow and represent the Spina Bifida community with PRIDE! This is for all the little ones w...

Walkin with Kelley: Last day of walks before the BIG walk!

Hey y’all!  So today was my last day to get in 2 good walks before it’s GO time on Saturday! Tomorrow is my day to rest my legs and there will be no walking! This morning I got in a FABULOUS (and rather toasty) 1.47 miles! My legs were a little tired and it was definitely a sweat sesh but I got it in!  Well tonight... yeah that was an even toastier walk. Thanks summer for showing back up in full force the week of 5K round 2! But as always I sucked it up and made it happen! I got in another 1.09 miles!!  That’s 2.56 miles for the day and 14.27 miles so far for the week! And I still have got a rather BIG 3.10 miles to walk on Saturday!  But for now it’s time to put my PJ’s on and get these little legs rested and ready for 5K round 2!!! Night y’all!!! ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley

“Why do a second 5K?”

Hey y’all! I have been asked a few times this week “Why do a second 5K?”... It’s something I definitely pondered myself for a while! But I’ll tell you why... Do you know 43 children are diagnosed with cancer every day?! And that 12% of those sweet babies sadly don’t make it?! That last statistic absolutely breaks my heart! No parent should ever have to endure losing a child to such an awful disease! That’s why I am walking this Saturday in the St Jude Walk/Run to end childhood cancer! To help raise money and show support for those AMAZING families at St Jude! To show them that they are not alone in their fight to end childhood cancer! I want to show those beautiful angels at St Jude that you can achieve something BIG despite a diagnosis or what some doctor says! I’m doing this to show them that you can turn other peoples “No you can’t do that!” into “Yes I can!”! I want to show those sweet babies they are so much more then their diagnosis! If my journey with my walking and with my Spin...

And sometimes your body just says “NOPE!”

Hey y’all! Well my walking day started out GREAT! I got in a good 1.53 miles and I felt GREAT! Then I got to this evening.... My body(Particularly my belly) has decided to give me hell in order to show me it needs a night off! But this is nothing new to me... It is just another part of life with Spina Bifida! You can feel AMAZING one minute and your body will turn on you the next minute! I use to get SO mad and frustrated when this would happen... Now I have just learned to accept it and give my body the rest it is screaming for! So as much as I hate taking the night off there will be no walking for me tonight! Just rest and making sure my body is SUPER ready for Saturday! But you better believe I will be back at it bright and early tomorrow morning!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

3.19 miles this morning y'all!!!

Hey y'all! I am SO excited y'all! This morning I had my only 3.10 miler of the week(Besides the BIG 3.10 on Saturday) planned.... Well I went past that 3.10 miles honey! I got in 3.19 miles!!! I would have to look but I pretty sure that is the most I have walked in one walk!! It did take me an hour and twenty minutes but quite honestly who cares?! The fact that I did the 3.19 miles and still had energy after which is a HUGE accomplishment! Well at least to me it is!  Tonight's walk was another SCORCHER. Of course summer decides to return the week of my second 5K.... But I toughed it out and got in another 1.54 miles!!   So that's 4.73 miles for the day!!! Which is a new personal best for me... by .01 miles but hey it still counts! Now it's on to easy walks the rest of the week!! Time to rest my legs and get them ready for the 5K on Saturday!!! Walkin with Kelley: Easy like Sunday morning😉

Hey y'all!  It's officially 5K week again!!! Saturday will mark my SECOND 5K walk when I walk in the St Jude Walk/Run to end childhood cancer!!! I am actually EXTREMELY excited this time and the nerves really haven't set in... YET!  This morning I was on team no sleep thanks to the Ole Miss game running long(We don't need to discuss that one!) and being woke up in the middle of the night! So that made for a VERY slow walk! I mean slowest 1.10 miles I have done in a WHILE! But at least I got it in!  Tonight was a SCORCHER! It was definitely the hottest walk I have had in about 2 weeks! But my body felt GREAT(Minus all the sweat😉) and my time was MUCH better then this morning!  So I will end the day with 2.17 miles! This week will be a fairly easy week walkin wise. I only have one 3 miler planned (Besides the big one!) and that happens tomorrow! But for now it's time to get into my PJ's and relax! Happy Sunday y'all!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Over 22 miles for the second week in a row!

Hey y'all!  I'm so excited... I hit OVER 22 miles for the SECOND week in a row!!! 22.05 mikes to be exact! Not bad for a girl who was told she wouldn't walk on her own EVER! I think I am showing those doctors what this little brunette is really made of!  This mornings walk actually felt ok for as tired as my body is! I did have my slow moments but still got it done and hit 2.06 miles!!!  So we are exactly ONE week from my SECOND 5K walk.... and I am actually REALLY excited! I haven't had near the anxiety that I had with the 1st! I'm pumped up and ready to help raise money for the sweet babies at St Jude! I also want to show all those little loves that you can accomplish anything you put your mind too! All you need is a little determination and some sass! Now it's time to put my PJ's on and relax! It will be a day of college football. NASCAR, napping and then finally tonight my Rebels take on California! Have a great day y'all!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

Walkin with Kelley: THIRD 3.10 miler of the week!!

Hey y'all! So I must say I am pretty proud of myself. This morning I got in my THIRD 3.10 miler of the week! I haven't done three 3 milers in one week in a while! It was definitely SLOW (Slowest time of the week☹️).... But the fact that I made it thru it and there were no tears and I didn't just give up and say "I'm done!" Makes me extremely proud!  Tonight started out GREAT.... and then at about the half mile mark I hit a major wall and slowed WAY down... I can tell my body is EXTREMELY tired! But I finished and got in another 1.45 miles!  So 4.55 miles total for the day! Since I ended up having to take Tuesday off I am not quite at my goal yet... Thankfully Ole Miss is not playing at home this week and the game isn't until 9:30pm(I'm gonna need a pregame nap to get thru that one!) so I can get in one more walk tomorrow and reach my goal for the week... or maybe even PASS it😉! Walkin with Kelley: Light walkin day and the battle with sore hips!

Hey y'all! When I woke up this morning y'all my hips were SORE! I deal with sore hips and a sore back quite a bit but this one thru me off guard a little! I have felt so good this whole week and I thought the trend would continue to today... I was wrong! Thankfully I had already planned for this to be a "light" walking day. This morning was GREAT weather wise... But the sore hips made for a somewhat unpleasant walk! I still managed to get in 2.05 miles but it was not a pleasant 2.05 miles AT ALL!  Tonight was a SLIGHT bit better... I only struggled thru half of the walk this time😉! But that being said I still got in another 1.08 miles!  So 3.13 miles for the day.... Not over 4 miles like the last couple days but I will take it! Tomorrow I go hard and get in my last 3 miler of the week! For now I am going to take some Ibuprofen and rest these hips!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley

Hey y'all!  Today was an absolutely FABULOUS day for walking! This morning I hit over 3 miles for the 2ND time this week when I hit 3.12 miles!! After this walk I felt the best I think I have EVER felt after walking 3 miles! I was talking and laughing and not really tired at all! And my legs felt AMAZING!   Tonight my body was definitely a little more tired then this morning! Even with being tired I hit 1.60 miles! I was only shooting for 1.50 miles but ended up with 1.60!!! So I took that as a big win!  That's 4.72 miles for the day!!! Here we are halfway thru the walking week and I am at 12.31 miles walked so far!  Now it's time to put my PJ's on, get in bed and watch movies the rest of the night!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley 

First 3 miler of the week and 4.60 miles for the day!!

Hey y'all! Today I went full throttle with my walking! Tomorrow it is suppose to rain all day and I wanted to get a good mileage day in so I am not scrambling at the end of the week if I have to take all of tomorrow off! This morning I did  my first 3.11 miles of the week! It felt AMAZING to begin with.... Then about the 2 mile mark I hit a wall and struggled the rest of the walk! But it took me just over an hour so that makes me happy!  Tonight was ALOT better! I felt GREAT and didn't hit a wall halfway thru! It was definitely a windy walk which can sometimes be a challenge for this 4ft 10in, 95lbs brunette.... But I dug my heels in and made it 1.49 miles!  So here we are only 2 days into the walking week and I have already walked 7.60 miles!!! Definitely a GREAT start to my week!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley

Hey y'all!  So normally I take it SUPER easy on Sundays and just do a mile... But since I took the whole day to rest yesterday I decided to push it a little bit farther today! This mornings walk was AMAZING! The weather was perfect and I felt the best I have felt all week! I did 1.50 miles and could have probably kept going but didn't want to push it quite that much😉 Tonight's walk was a little bit rougher(Although I'm not sure why?!). My body was fighting me a little and the first mile was definitely slower then this morning! But I pushed thru it and made myself speed up a little and got in another 1.50 miles!!  So that's 3 miles for the day.... Definrely not a bad way to start the walking week!!  ❤️Hugs💙 Kelley
